Winter Foraging Permit

from $50.00

*Not currently available. This is an example of what the purchasing interface will look like once the Ecoculture Project LLC is up and running.

The Winter season will last from December 1st - February 28th. Seasonal permits grant you access to forage sustainably according to the limitations and guidelines below. Prior to any harvest you must complete our waiver, which states that you are responsible for your own safe conduct and plant identification skills, when harvesting on our preserves.

Full season permit - 2 foraging outings per week - $225 - (26 total at roughly $8.5/outing)

Half season permit - 1 foraging outing per week - $125 - (13 total at roughly $9.5/outing)

Quarter season permit - 1 foraging outing every other week - $75 - (7 total at roughly $11/outing)

Beginner Permit - 4 total foraging outings - $50 - (at $12.5.5/outing) - A Beginners Permit grants you the opportunity to join 4 different volunteer foraging mentors on their outings.

*1 beginners permit allowed per season, per lifetime (i.e., once you purchase a beginners permit, you will not be able to purchase another again for that season). Beginners will be required to watch our Foraging Safety and Honorable Harvest training video and complete a quiz prior to scheduling your foraging sessions.

Species with limitations

  • Species 1 (1 pint per day)

  • Species 2 (1 pound total)

  • Species 3 (1 individual per week)

  • Species 4 (no harvest until further notice)

Any species not listed here have no specific limitations. Utilize Honorable Harvest:

Know the ways of the ones who take care of you, so that you may take care of them.

Introduce yourself. Be accountable as the one who comes asking for life.

Ask permission before taking. Abide by the answer.

Never take the first. Never take the last.

Take only what you need.

Take only that which is given.

Never take more than half. Leave some for others.

Harvest in a way that minimizes harm.

Use it respectfully. Never waste what you have taken.

Share.

Give thanks for what you have been given.

Give a gift, in reciprocity for what you have taken.

Sustain the ones who sustain you and the earth will last forever.
